PE Cares: Birthday Project Volunteering

August 06, 2019

Productive Edge (PE) and PE Cares aim to engage with the Chicago community each month in order to participate in opportunities which support and lift up those in need. The objective of our community engagement is to help build and foster a sense of commitment and positivity in our city. In July, we partnered with The Birthday Project. The goal of this group is to bring joy to children experiencing homelessness or living in transitional facilities by hosting a magical birthday celebration.

For the event, PE employees helped put on a carnival-themed party. Games and events included potato sack races, face painting, and balloon animals. There were three birthdays being celebrated, with lots of other party-goers in attendance.

"I had such a fun time interacting with the children and playing carnival games with them,” said Tory Fedder, Marketing Coordinator at Productive Edge. “They brought so much excitement and energy to the group. It was an event I'll always cherish.”

The Birthday Project hosts monthly birthday parties at homeless and transitional living facilities across the country. They celebrate all children (ages 1-21) that have a birthday that month and invite all children and family members staying at the agency to join for the party.
